TRANSPARENCY BY DESIGN

A little proof.
A lot more clarity.

TrustLetters is a free public newsletter directory. Anyone can explore listings, filters, and history without an account. Publishers list for free. Clearly labelled advertising on this site supports the directory.

What “API sourced” means

Statistics are retrieved from a publisher’s connected platform. This confirms where a number came from, not that every subscriber or interaction is human. Names, descriptions, topics, language, audience claims, logos, and contact links are publisher-provided. We do not mark an entire profile as verified.

Metrics you can interpret

Freshness and rankings

We schedule a daily synchronization, with bounded retries for temporary errors and rate limits. The timestamp is the last successful import, never the time you opened the page. Updates more than 48 hours old are marked overdue. After seven days without a successful update, a listing is excluded from current rankings. Disconnected listings are also ineligible.

Organic rankings default to active subscribers. Only connected listings with an API-sourced subscriber count are eligible. A failed optional issue-metric request does not erase a valid subscriber count; its reason is retained in provenance.

Advertising is separate

Banner advertisements, sponsored newsletter cards, and category sponsorships are labelled and displayed outside organic rankings. Payment cannot change a data-source label or rank. We do not sell access to newsletter data, manage publisher sponsorship deals, or collect commissions on them.

Your account and your data

Publisher account emails and password hashes are private. Provider credentials are encrypted on the server; raw provider responses and credentials are not logged. We request aggregate publication and post statistics, not subscriber names or emails. Public information is limited to the profile you preview and choose to publish.

You can unpublish, disconnect, or delete a listing in your dashboard. Deletion removes its saved history. Disconnecting removes that listing’s connection and unpublishes it. Credentials shared by another listing remain until that listing is also disconnected. Revoke TrustLetters access at the provider to revoke authorization there.

Demo mode

The demo runs in a separate local database with fictional publications, statistics, and charts. Every demo page carries a visible label. Demo data is never used as production data, and a demo connection never makes a real provider request.

Source documentation: beehiiv publications, post statistics, and OAuth authorization. The full provider matrix is included in the repository’s docs/providers.md file.
